I have three matese's and have had them since they were puppies. The first couple months they would have a couple of 3 hour spurts of energy through the day and sleep in between however, if your dog is sleeping alot and doesn't want to get up you need to make sure it's eating enough. If she isn't eating enough her blood sugar can go down and cause her to sleep and be lazy you can also put a little bit of honey in her mouth to perk her up. It won't harm the puppy and give her the sugars she needs.
References :
There really is no set schedule for a puppy.. They are like children.. When they get tired they'll slow down and you'll know it... But try taking the puppy outside for at least an hour a day. And of course the 20million times for potty. Congrats! Maltese puppies are adorable.
References :
15 minutes of play should tucker them out. Let them sleep whenever they're tired. It's hard work being a puppy!
References :
mmmm, my friend has a mini maltese and I remember hers being pretty active (up for 2-3 hours) and then sleep for an hour or two.

I just got a min. pin. and she is pretty active during the day. She takes about 3 naps, but once it hits like 10 p.m. she just wants to sleep.

Your puppy will let you know when they're tired.
