How will I know if my pomeranian is ready to have her puppies?
This is my pomeranian (Tinkerbell) first litter and I have no knowledge on this! The day she got pregnant was December 9,2010 so shouldn’t she be have her puppies by know or when? what signs so I be looking for?
I really need to know because I have school tomorrow and don’t want her to have them while I’m at college.
The average gestation period for a dog is 63 days but can go a little longer. One of my dogs consistently goes 65 days. 63 days from Dec 9 would be tomorrow. Signs to look for are increased nesting behavior (digging in blankets, etc), trying to go to dark/confined areas (such as a closet or under your bed), increased panting, some dogs will go off their food the 12-24 hours beforehand, but others will eat right up until they deliver.

Pregnancy in the dog lasts 62/63 days so if you calculate, from the first mating, you’ll know exactly when she’s due. If she goes over by more than 2 days, you’ll need to get her into your vet for a check to see what’s going on. Have you had the pregnancy confirmed at any point?
You do realise that she should NOT be left alone if it’s anywhere near the time she should be whelping. She could need a C.Section, with any delivery, so there MUST be somebody with her, and again for weeks after the puppies are born to make sure the litter and mum, are doing well. If you leave her alone at this time, it’s entirely possible you could come home to an emergency situation. At best.
You and your family have had 9 weeks to read up on pregnancy, whelping and rearing these puppies, so you should at least know the theory. Mentor?

Why would you breed her without doing absolutely no research.
Gestation is 60- 65 days averaging 63.
You need to be in contact with your Vet. What are you going to do if she has complications?

Yet another example of " Just because you CAN doesn’t mean you SHOULD". Please, please, please get some advice from your vet.. you DO have one, right? Then have her spayed unless you plan on quitting school to become a full time breeder. It’s a full time responsibility.
